We believe Christ offers the gift of salvation to all. We witness to everyone, knowing that anyone can potentially be saved if he or she will only confess to being a sinner, repent, and trust in Jesus. Each person decides whether or not to trust in Christ for salvation.
The praise of God through music is an indispensable form of ministry of Stanley Baptist Church. Congregational singing is essential. Our music program consists of dedicated volunteer choir members and musicians. Diversity in anthems or vocal and instrumental solos are joyfully offered.
Musical gifts and talents used to glorify our Lord in our services are welcome.
We support a variety of ministries and programs throughout our community. These include but are not limited to Arise, Casey's Backpacks, Choices, Page One, and WRE. Nonlocal outreaches include but are not limited to Operation Christmas Child and Alma Hunt. We are affiliated with the following Denominational Affiliations: BGAV – Baptist General Association of Virginia and Shenandoah Baptist Association.
We shall follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, serve together in Christian love, encourage one another, engage in faithful living and serve with a passion to share the good news with the lost.
To help all people know God that they might have eternal life.
Grow in Christ and have a passion for the lost.
The Marksville Baptist Church was the forerunner of the Stanley Baptist Church. Marksville was the center of activity of a large and prosperous farm community from 1840 to the 1880’s. When the Shenandoah Valley Railroad (later Norfolk and Western) came to town in 1881, the Marksville Baptist Church was founded 1884. In 1900 when Stanley was incorporated, land was purchased in the town of Stanley and in 1901 Marksville Baptist moved to Stanley and changed the name to Stanley Baptist Church. On October 1, 1933, Mr. George H. Quantance, Jr. would present his baptismal painting that adorns the wall of the baptistry. In 1936, the church would host its first Vacation Bible School with the nearby Methodist Church as co-hosts which has been recorded as a “very worthwhile endeavor.” On September 20, 1981, groundbreaking construction began on the end of the church to add Sunday School Classrooms, a kitchen, and a fellowship hall. In 2009, the church added an addition with the construction of a larger nursery, kitchen, and additional bathroom.
Our church is led by Pastor Bobby Wade and a team of dedicated deacons, deaconesses, and leaders who are committed to serving our congregation and community.
"Lord, by Your Spirit
Put healing in our hands,
Put life in our words.
and drive deep within our hearts,
Your passion for the lost."
